The quick actions of Bedford Hills police and firefighters led to the rescue of a mother and her two sons from a house fire in Bedford Hill early this morning.
The call for the fire at 38 Park Ave. came in just before 3 a.m.
The mother and children, 9 and 10 years old, were trapped inside and starting to become overcome by smoke, officials say.
Bedford Town police released bodycam footage to News 12 showing responders trying to reach the mother and her two sons, one of whom has special needs. The children can be heard crying in fear in the video.
Responders were able to get the family out of the home. They were then taken to Westchester Medical Center and are expected to be OK. A family member says they are being treated for smoke inhalation.
Firefighters were able to get into the basement and put out the flames in about 30 minutes.
There is a good amount of smoke and water damage inside, and it is not expected that the family will be able to return at this time.
Fire investigators are looking through the basement to determine exactly what caused the fire.
