4ds agoRockland County Executive Ed Day wrote a letter to Gov. Kathy Hochul that took aim at New York City's plans to send migrants to other parts of the state.
Day's letter slammed New York City Mayor Eric Adams and other city leaders' "uncoordinated decompression strategy" that sends migrants out of the Big Apple to other areas in the state.
Rockland's top official then called on Hochul to speak with federal lawmakers.
Day also sent Hochul video of Ramon Soto, a county official, speaking with migrants in Rockland about their experience coming to this country, as well as the immigration system.
"This is a far cry from the American dream, is quite frankly inhumane, and the people attempting to come here deserve better than a life of poverty due to our broken immigration system," said Day.
So far, dozens of counties and three towns in New York have filed states of emergency similar to Rockland.
News 12 reached out to the governor's team for a response to County Executive Ed Day but has not heard back.
