Rockland County's statue of Thurgood Marshall, the first Black U.S. Supreme Court justice, will soon have a new home.
County legislators voted unanimously to relocate the statue from its current spot on Main Street in New City to a location where it can be seen by more people.
Marshall, a trailblazer for equal rights, made history in the county by winning a landmark school desegregation case in Hillburn in 1943, advancing access to equal education.
Officials have not yet announced the statue's new location, but News 12 will provide an update once the details are confirmed.
