New unemployment numbers that came out Thursday show that Rockland County's rate rose from 6.8 percent in May to 7.5 percent in June.
Roy Rizzotti, the owner of R.J. Staffing in Nanuet, says the latest numbers aren't surprising to him. Rizzotti says he has fewer jobs available now and more candidates to choose from.
"I think the real problem isn't going to hit the county now," he says. "It's going to hit it six months from now, when people start to roll off of the unemployment."
Experts predict the jobless rate will reach new heights in the coming months.
