? Security concerns stemming from 9/11 and the recent London bombings has prompted Rockland leaders to push for better radio communications between enforcement agencies.
Last week?s bomb scare at the Palisades Center Mall, left first responders in a precarious situation because of their inability to contact the different departments to handle the incident properly.
According to officials, the price tag for revamping the system would be $30 million. County officials say the county would pay for two thirds of the infrastructure cost and 50 percent of the subscriber charges. Each town and village would have to come up with the rest.
