A new law aimed at keeping pedophiles away from children is now in effect in Rockland County.
Under the new law, Level 2 and Level 3 sex offenders will no longer be allowed to live, work or congregate within 1,000 feet of a school or playground. Rockland County Executive Scott Vanderhoef signed the law Friday and says although he supports the measure he does have conerns. He says he believes the law will create a false sense of security. In addition, Vanderhoef says he is uneasy about clustering sex offenders in the few remaining areas of the county.
Currently, there are 39 Level 2 and Level 3 sex offenders living in Rockland County.
