Route 100 in Valhalla reopened Thursday afternoon after crews removed a tree that came down on the roadway due to powerful winds that impacted the area the night before.
Crews across the Hudson Valley spent the majority of the day cleaning up from the strong winds and heavy rain Wednesday night that wreaked havoc in the area.
Con Edison reported receiving a report of a downed tree on Route 100, locally known as Grasslands Road, at 12:50 a.m.
A tree had fallen on wires, which led to crews replacing those wires and a transformer that left more than two dozen customers without service.
The closure led to traffic tie-ups in the area for drivers, even school buses.
All Valhalla schools opened on a two-hour delay because of the weather's impact on Route 100 and other bus routes.
