Two Pride flags and a special mural were unveiled Friday at Rye Playland as part of Pride Month.
News 12 was told this was the very first time two Pride flags will fly at the amusement park.
Pride Month is designed to celebrate the culture and history of the LGBTQ community as well as support gay rights.
The six-color rainbow flag is used as a symbol of LGBTQ pride with each color on the flag having its own meaning. Red is symbolic of life, orange represents healing, yellow means sunshine, green stands for nature, blue represents harmony and purple is spirit.
Other colors in a chevron design on the flags represent people of color in the LGBTQ community, trans people as well as people who were lost to HIV.
The LGBTQ Advisory Board raised the two flags along with Westchester County officials.
A Progress Pride Flag mural was also unveiled in front of the fountain.
The mural was painted by The LOFT, which is an LGBTQ community center in White Plains.
The mural and flags will be on display throughout June.
Rye Playland will open later this month.
