Sacred Heart Gift & Apparel has been a staple in the Hudson Valley for the past 29 years.
Co-owner Grace Pietrosanti met with News 12 to how she and the store are moving forward after the death of Pope Francis.
Pope Francis died at the age of 88 early Monday morning.
Sacred Heart Gift & Apparel owner Grace Pietrosanti says the news and timing was shocking.
"Hearing of his death, I just thought the timing was incredible. It's God's timing. It was the day after Easter. The Resurrection," she said.
Her boutique, which she co-owns with her daughter, sells a variety of religious artifacts, including Communion and baptism dresses, to church goods.
She says that while every pontiff has a unique vision, Pope Francis' was especially meaningful.
"This one in particular wanted to extend himself to the most neglected. The most lonely. The people in jail. He was just incredible. His pontificate has been a big game changer for the church," she said.
Pietrosanti added that she is looking forward to who the new pope will be and what changes they will bring.
Sacred Heart Gift & Apparel is located at 926 Route 6, Suite 3 in Mahopac.
The store is open from Tuesday through Saturday.
