School bus carrying 13 students crashes in Dutchess County
A school bus was involved in an accident this morning near 156 Noxon Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie.
Arlington School District officials said the 13 Noxon Road Elementary students who were on the bus when it crashed into a ditch of Noxon Road are all fine.
The multivehicle crash happened around 8:30 a.m. Parents of the 13 students were notified immediately.

"I just wanted to get to her as quickly as I could," Carolyn Morabito said as she was picking up her daughter from school later in the day. "Once I received the information, I was able to asses the situation ... the information was given to me in an appropriate amount of time and it was handled well."
A spokesperson for the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office said it appears that a car rear-ended another car that was about to turn off an access road onto Noxon Road, sending the car into the bus that was passing by on Noxon. Then the bus slid into the ditch.
A school district spokesperson said EMS crews evaluated the students on scene before the students were brought to school on another bus. Two students were taken to the hospital for observation.
The spokesperson also said the bus driver and bus monitor were taken to a hospital as a precaution and did not suffer any major injuries.
The bus driver was drug-tested, per district policy.
"I saw the kids walking, as they were getting out of the bus," said Victor Holley, who lives right by the crash scene. "There was already a bunch of people pulled over and helping and stuff like that, and in a matter of minutes, I heard sirens."
School district officials said the district will conduct a full investigation, as is the case with any crash involving a school bus.
The sheriff's office spokesperson told News 12 the agency does not expect to file any charges as a result of this crash.
