New Yorkers have decided to send Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) back to Washington for a third term. Schumer easily defeated Republican challenger Jay Townsend. Schumer was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1998 when he beat Republican Sen. Alfonse D'Amato.
