The Federal Aviation Administration?s (FAA) plan to re-route traffic over the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant is raising concerns of safety.
Ever since September 11th, there has been concern that terrorists could target Indian Point from either the water or the air. Westchester County Executive Andy Spano wrote a letter to the FAA urging officials to reconsider the plan. Spano says the county considers it to be a significant security risk.
Meantime, Congresswoman Sue Kelly (R-Katonah) is pushing for a greater Coast Guard presence in the Hudson River near the plant. Kelly has introduced legislation, which would have the Coast Guard station ships near nuclear power plants to help prevent an attack from the water.
