Sen. Sue Serino is helping to lead the effort to suspend New York state's gas tax by starting a petition.

Serino says it's a move that would save New Yorkers almost 50 cents per gallon.

The senator says New York is one of the highest taxed states in the nation.

She says that with rising gas prices, along with the state flush with cash thanks to a recent influx of federal funds, the state should take action to provide immediate relief for the New Yorkers who need it most.
