A special election to fill the last two years of Hillary Clinton's former Senate seat is starting to heat up as a new poll shows that candidates Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) and Joseph DioGuardi (R-N.Y.) at a near tie.
Gillibrand was in Mount Vernon over the weekend at the Grace Baptist Church, saying that she's fighting for middle-class families that are struggling to make ends meet.
DioGuardi promised that if he's elected, he will be one of the most active, informed, sincere and honest senators that New York has ever had.
A new Quinnipiac poll shows that Gillibrand is leading DioGuardi by only around six points. DioGuardi has been projected to be behind by as many as 20 points in recent weeks.
