U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) and other local Democrats were sworn in Thursday to the 110th Congress, which put Democrats in power for the first time in 12 years.The new Congress counts amongst its ranks a slew of freshman senators and representatives, and the nation?s first female Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). Senator Clinton dodged questions about whether she would seek the presidency, but expressed excitement at having a female speaker. Clinton took a ceremonial oath presided over by Vice President Dick Cheney. Former President Bill Clinton was at her side, as was her mother and daughter, Chelsea.Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D-NY) says Clinton is part of a Democratic majority that will put Westchester and Hudson Valley?s representatives in a new position of power. Lowey was joined in the swearing in ceremony by fellow Representative John Hall (D-NY).
