Yesterday was a soaker with several strong storms in some neighborhoods. Today's risk for severe thunderstorms are low, but there is the potential for heavy rain later this evening and overnight. The risk of heavy rain will linger through Monday and Tuesday. A total of 1-2 inches of rain is expected with higher amounts expected in thunderstorms.
WHAT TO KNOW:
  • Dry this morning on Long Island.
  • Showers develop late afternoon. Heavy rain is possible overnight tonight.
  • On and off Showers Monday and Tuesday. Heavy rain is possible, especially Monday afternoon.
  • Rain likely ends by Wednesday but stray showers could linger.
TODAY: Cloudy and cooler with high temperatures in the upper 60s. A passing shower is possible late this morning or early in the afternoon.
TONIGHT: Periods of rain are expected. Heavy rain is possible. Temperatures in the mid 50s.
MONDAY: Overcast with showers likely and a few downpours possible, especially in the afternoon. Flooding is possible. Highs near 60.
TUESDAY: Overcast with more rain expected throughout the day. Locally heavy rain is possible. Highs in the low to mid 60s.
WEDNESDAY: Mainly cloudy early with peeks of sunshine later in the morning and afternoon. Highs near 70.
