Banners for an event to bring police and the community together have been vandalized in Port Chester.
There were two banners posted on the front and back of a sign across from Lyon Park, which were both vandalized and have now been taken down.
The banners advertised National Night Out, an annual event across the country that brings police officers and the community together to have conversations and build better trust.
One of the signs was x'ed out.
On the other sign, ACAB was written, which is an abbreviation that claims all cops are bad.
Underneath it was a drawing of a pig.
On Facebook, the Port Chester Police Department wrote: “It's OK if you don't like the event or for that matter the police, but to try and ruin a night out for police and community is probably not the way to go. Most members of the department are born, raised and still live in PC and have a vested interest in the relationship with the community.”
The police chief says his department won't be deterred by this hatred and they're still going ahead with their event on Aug. 3 at Lyon Park.
