A skydiver was seriously injured after a jump out of a hot-air balloon yesterday over Wawayanda.
Officials say 33-year-old Helen Woznak had jumped with three others from a hot-air balloon at an altitude of about 4,000-5,000 feet. All three fully deployed their parachutes when Woznak crashed into a resident's backyard, according to witnesses and investigators.
Police are trying to determine what went wrong. All other jumpers landed safely in a nearby empty field.
Woznak was transported to the Westchester Medical Center where she remains is serious condition.
