The holiday rush is taking on a new meaning in Clarkstown - as several neighbors have reached out to News 12 about speeding concerns.

A dad in Nanuet who asked to stay anonymous says fast drivers are ruining his home sweet home. 

"Cars are going real fast. Whether you're waiting at the bus in the morning or afternoon, they're flying by you," he says. 

He lives off Blauvelt Road by George W. Miller Elementary School. 

The posted speed limit is 15 mph, but most cars News 12 spotted Thursday were going much faster.  

"Any road you go down,people are going faster," says the dad. 

Other neighbors also reached out to News 12 about the problem on Route 304. There was an accident there in October that claimed the life of a 10-year-old boy.

"They stop at the light, and when they get in front of my store - which is maybe 50 feet - they're going 40 to 60 mph," says Barry Fixler.

Fixler's jewelry store has had a front row seat to the traffic on 304 and Bardonia for three decades.

"They come shooting right by me, it's frustrating," he says. 

Clarkstown police tell News 12 that six officers cover over 1,400 roads. The department agrees more patrols could help but says other officers are responding to emergency calls. 

The department does random crackdowns and tells News 12 it plans to do another for speeding in the coming week.
