A Somers mother will reunite with the paramedic who helped deliver her baby in her home during the height of the pandemic.

Julie Gencarelli's water broke when she was at home on May 12, 2020.

Tyler Videla, a paramedic with Westchester Emergency Medical Services, answered the call for help.

Videla and two other EMTs helped deliver Gencarelli's baby on her bedroom floor.

At one point, Videla noticed the umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby's neck. He says he quickly moved it out of the way so he could deliver him. Minutes later, James Gencarelli was born at 8 pounds, 11 ounces.

Videla says he was only on the job a couple of months and that this was the most amazing experience of his whole life. It's also one that Gencarelli and her family will never forget.

"I'm so looking forward to them holding my son and giving them a big hug and thanking them for everything they did that day," said Gencarelli. "I'm just eternally grateful that they were there and helped us because I don't know what would have happened."
