A group of Spring Valley kids from the Youth & Police Initiative were featured on the jumbotron at this week’s Brooklyn Nets game against the Golden State Warriors.
YPI is a program dedicated to “enhancing police officers and prosecutors understanding of the beliefs, values, and experiences of local youth, while ensuring that youth develop a genuine regard for the challenges that police officers face on the job,” according to the program’s website.
The children were part of the high-five line for the visiting team and had the opportunity to meet players from both teams, as well as the rapper Common.
