State police are investigating an apparent swatting incident Saturday afternoon in Monroe that resulted in a large police response in the area of Rye Hill and High Ridge roads around 2:45 p.m.

Officials say police received a fake call about a man armed with a gun with a child in the basement. They say it was unfounded and is now under investigation.
