State troopers set to leave Stewart Airport
Port Authority officials say they are working on a plan to replace state troopers at Stewart Airport by November.
A Port Authority spokesperson says the agency is reviewing its options and trying to develop a plan that will meet federal requirements for terminal and access control.
While some travelers say they don't care who patrols the airport, others don't want to see the troopers leave the terminals after 20 years of service.
Replacing the state trooper patrols is part of a wider New York State Police reorganization, which also includes a controversial plan to close a crime laboratory at Stewart Airport.
