Some families in Stony Point are still dealing with massive flood damage after a water main break in September.

Officials say the flooding started when a break at East Main Street and Route 9W sent water into the sewer system, which backed up through toilets and destroyed homes.

Veolia Water owns the broken main, but its insurer denied homeowners' claims.

Three families are now appealing and have hired an attorney. "I had this person on the phone who is in Kentucky. So there's a person at a desk that's trying to decide this for us," said Frank Dickinson of Stony Point.

The three homes have more than $250,000 in damage. Two other homes and the local library were also flooded.
