WHAT TO KNOW:
  • Cool, breezy, less humid today
  • A dry start to the work week & getting warmer
  • Hot Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
  • Today is the start of Hurricane Season: No Tropical Development is expected this week
It's June 1, which is officially the first day of Meteorological Summer, the warmest quarter of the year on average, so the big warm up in the forecast for this week is right on schedule. The average afternoon high this time of the year is in the mid 70s and average low temperatures are in the mid to upper 50s.
June 1 also marks the start of the Atlantic Basin Hurricane Season. Hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30, but the most active part of the season is August, September, and October. Although June is typically a quieter time in Hurricane Season, the breeding ground for tropical systems is closer to land, in the western Caribbean or the Gulf of Mexico.
There are no tropical disturbances to watch in the Atlantic Basin this week.
