After what was mostly an amazing weekend of weather, the weather is not going to cooperate as nicely this week. Keep your outdoor plans, but have a plan of action to take shelter if a spotty downpour or thunderstorm passes where you are. This is a possibility pretty much every day this week. The biggest concern is the tropical-like nature that any downpour can have. This can cause isolated instances of at least minor flooding through the week.
The week also starts off hot and humid, with temperatures dropping down to around the low-80s by Thursday through the weekend.
TROPICS: TROPICAL DEPRESSION CHANTAL — LOCAL IMPACTS? What is left of once Tropical Storm Chantal is over Virginia this morning. While isolated downpours over the next couple of days can be "tropical-like" in nature, associated with some of the remnant moisture from Chantal, this will not be widespread torrential rain that causes washouts locally. That said, isolated instances of flooding from passing downpours cannot be ruled out. Flooding is top of mind with all of the recent devasation in Texas. I just want to be very clear - we are not looking at that type of historical flooding here. What we see locally will just be isolated instances of ponding from spotty downpours and thunderstorms off and on over the next few days.
