Summer is
the time for weddings. Like many things, weddings are costing more and more.
News 12's
Kristie Reeter talks to an expert from The Knot to break down the affordable
trends they are seeing.
Caleb
Silver, or Investopedia, says the cost of a wedding is up a couple thousand
dollars from last year.
"The
wedding dress is up 21.4%, flowers are up 12.7%, wedding cake it up 11%, and a photographer will cost you
an additional 8.2% this year," Silver says.
According to The
Knot, the average cost of a wedding in
New York State is $49,400.
The number also factors in the engagement ring along
with the ceremony and venue.
Esther Lee, the deputy editor of The Knot, says that
one way to save is to explore weekday weddings.
When it comes to the dress, "people should go
to bridal salons because these bridal salons are experts. The stylists are
experts on the ground and they are able to fit and match budgets," Lee
says.
And as you
pick out the cake and flowers, think about alternatives to save.
Lee also
says couples should lay out their top three must haves as they lay out the
budget.
