Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Rob Thomas will perform Saturday at the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater in Bridgeport.
The Matchbox 20 frontman is best known for his chart-topping songs such as "3AM," "Lonely No More" and "Smooth" with Santana.
Thomas says he only lives a short drive from Bridgeport, so performing in the city hits close to home.
"When you're young and you start out, everything is like 'Oh my God, this show is important, I can't believe we messed this up, you have to do this, you have to do that.' Now it's just like, 'Hey man, we get to play music today, c'mon let's go!' I think that kind of attitude shows when we're on the stage, it doesn't feel like you know there's no pretense there. We're just there to have a good time. The New York show, the Jersey show, the Bridgeport, they're all like home shows because all family and friends can't come to one show, so we break them up. I've got a whole group of friends that are coming to Bridgeport that didn't go to PNC, that didn't go to the city, you know," he said.
Tickets are still available for the show on
Live Nation's website.
