The City of Yonkers celebrated Independence Day with fireworks.

The fireworks show is bringing in not just the Yonkers community but surrounding areas as well.

“I love fireworks. I always have since I was a kid," says Sandra Jakominic, a Yonkers resident.

There was also live music, dancing and activities for kids.

Many say the celebration on the waterfront is a highlight of the year and it’s an event they never miss.

“It’s just such a great activity all the time and for years and years it’s been going on," says Jakominic.

"The ambiance, the experience, everybody around here, it was just great," says Denise Rodriguez, a Yonkers resident.

Some even came from other areas to enjoy the fireworks.

“When it comes to fireworks, everyone says it’s awesome here,” says Angel Bussue, a Bronx resident.
