How are you beating the heat? The Rockland Lake State Park pool was the place to be Friday with temps at oppressive levels for a second day in a row.
Rockland Lake staff estimated about 1,500 people were in the pool area Friday. Park manager Christian Nielsen says more than 10,000 people visited the pool last weekend.
"You know you're providing a service to people that people really do enjoy,” says Nielsen.
Some swimmers changed plans because another state park has been fixing recent storm damage.
"We were supposed to go to Bear Mountain, but it was closed so we came here. It's great,” says Sergio, from the Bronx.
Staff are reminding visitors that no outside food or drinks are allowed.
