This morning, department of public works crews across Connecticut issued warnings about treacherous black ice on roadways.
Following Tuesday’s snowfall, crews were able to quickly clear side streets and secondary roadways. Additionally, the afternoon sun helped melt away a significant amount of the snowfall.
However, temperatures dropped into the 20s overnight, meaning that wet roads could have turned into black ice.
Public works crews throughout the region worked for hours to salt roadways in preparation for this morning's commute.
If you haven't had the chance to shovel your driveway yet, be aware that it may be more difficult to remove this morning as the light, fluffy snow will have turned much heavier due to the dropping temperatures overnight.
Stay cautious while driving and walking on untreated surfaces, as black ice can be extremely hazardous.
