The New Jersey state park police officer who allegedly shot an Orange County Native American man to death in April 2006 is set to stand trial Thursday afternoon.

New Jersey State Park Police Officer Chad Walder is accused of shooting Emil Mann, 45, at Ringwood State Park in Bergen County, NJ.

Officials say the shooting occurred after Mann was caught riding his ATV illegally with family and friends in the park. According to authorities, four park officers approached Mann and an argument erupted between Mann and Walder. Walder allegedly shot Mann three times, claiming it was self defense.

The jury was selected for the trial after two days of interviews with potential jurors at the Bergen County Courthouse. If Walder is found guilty of manslaughter, he faces 10 years behind bars.
