The Westchester County Health Department says 35 residents between 10 to 92 years old were confirmed to have active TB last year. According to the World Health Organization, common symptoms can be a prolonged cough, chest pain, and weakness, and while most cases are curable, those with underlying health issues are more at risk.
"We want physicians and nurses to be aware of tuberculosis in the region, although rates are low, Tuberculosis still exists," said Dr. Neil Schluger, dean of the School of Medicine at New York Medical College.
