Family and friends held a vigil to mark the one-year anniversary since a 22-year-old man was fatally shot while working as a busser at the former Duo Tapas Bar and Lounge in Yonkers.
The group remembered Antonio Antoine-Fils, a Montvale, New Jersey resident, as giving, sweet, and "an amazing kid."
Police say the incident unfolded around 2 a.m. on Feb. 6, 2022 after security began escorting people out of the bar following several fights on the second floor.
Peekskill resident Yaquba McGougain is accused of going to a car, grabbing a handgun and firing at least three times into the bar.
Antoine-Fils was struck and died at a hospital. A second employee, a bouncer, was also hit, but survived.
McGougain pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder, attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon. He remains in Westchester County Jail and is due back in court for his next appearance on Thursday. His attorney, Joshua Martin, didn't comment on the case that remains in pre-trial.
The state Liquor Authority suspended the bar's liquor license three days after the incident and the bar has since closed.
