A violent rant from the Spring Valley mayor was caught on camera.
It happened when Spring Valley Mayor Alan Simon was in a meeting last week.
The entire rant, which lasted about 60 seconds, involved Simon yelling at Deputy Mayor Asher Grossman before storming off.
Mayor Simon later told News 12 that he was reacting to the deputy mayor being disrespectful and condescending to the village fire chief who had just been making equipment requests.
He says the full video would paint a different picture.
Spring Valley Trustee Eudson Francois was not there, but he says this is part of a larger pattern.
"It happens over and over again for almost roughly four years," says Francois.
He says the mayor should resign, and he's even thinking about filing a complaint to Attorney General Letitia James.
"He's very abusive. Abusive is a reason to investigate," Francois.
Mayor Simon is running for reelection.
Trustee Francois is running as a write-in candidate.
News 12 asked what he'd say to people who could argue he wants Simon to resign for his own political future.
He says he has been critical of the mayor long before he entered this race.
