A volunteer-built playground, set to be the largest children's playground in Nanuet, is on track to be finished by Friday.
The playground will be located at the intersection of Church Street and Highview Avenue and will replace the old Highview community playground. "We hope to get out of it 50 years of our children and grandchildren enjoying themselves," said Dominic Caponigro, one of the 50 volunteers constructing the playground.
Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee prevented the playground from being finished on its original end date, last weekend, but it's now expected to be finished by Friday. The playground cost $185,000 to build, which was funded mostly through donations.
