Police arrested five Warwick teens and accused them of stealing traffic signs, causing a potentially deadly situation.
According to authorities, an onion farmer called police to report damages to his farming equipment and produce. When police arrived they followed footprints that led to a man-made fort filled with traffic signs.
Police say they found digital cameras with pictures and video of five teens, ranging in age from 15 to 19, stealing the signs. Police say stealing traffic signs is not taken lightly after a tragic accident two years ago in which a stolen stop sign caused a deadly crash. The farmer says the damage done to his equipment will cost thousands of dollars to repair. Warwick police charged the teens with criminal mischief and possession of stolen property.
