A traffic stop in Warwick is being credited with uncovering a major drug-trafficking operation spanning three states.
A total of 16 people - from New York City, Massachusetts and New Jersey - were named in a 473-count indictment this week for allegedly trafficking oxycodone and cocaine in New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts.
Warwick police aided other agencies in the state attorney general's investigation after officers uncovered some of the illegal drugs during a traffic stop in 2019.
Authorities say 26,000 oxycodone pills, 300 grams of cocaine and thousands of dollars were recovered.
