Water main breaks in Rockland and Westchester counties have now been repaired, with roads reopened and conditions improving in both areas.
In Rockland County, Veolia says repairs are complete after a water main break Sunday afternoon near the intersection of New York Avenue and Butler Street in Congers. Officials say the roadway has reopened, and the town highway department applied salt to the road as a precaution in case of ice.
In Westchester County, a separate water main break happened on Miller Avenue in Somers, where the road was covered in ice and water Saturday morning.
Crews there say they began work as soon as they received the call and described the repair as an easy fix.
Residents in Somers said they were relieved their water service remained on during the repairs.
