Members of the White Plains Public Safety Team spoke to News 12 about rescuing a construction worker who broke his leg while on a crane.
The worker's crew members made him a makeshift splint out of duct tape and a half inch threaded rod, according to first responders.
Firefighters lowered the crew member to the top deck of the construction site and used their tower ladder bucket to lower him 150 feet down.
Police and fire officials say they practice for scenarios like this together.
“We work together, and it's really paid off,” said Captain Daniel McMahon of the White Plains Police Department.
"This is a low frequency, high risk event and those are the instances you have to be on your game,” said Lt. Kristopher Eifler of the White Plains Fire Department.
