A 22-year-old West Point cadet was convicted on one count of rape and one count of indecent conduct in military court yesterday and sentenced to three and a half years of confinement.
Kyle Newman was facing two counts of rape and was found not guilty on one of the charges. The victim of the crime admitted to drinking, flirting and kissing Newman before the incident occurred in February, but said she refused to have sex with him.
Newman pleaded guilty to three violations, which automatically dismisses him from the army.
