Westchester commuters are weighing in on New York City's expanded COVID-19 vaccination mandate.
Most Westchester commuters News 12 spoke with say they are on board with Mayor Bill de Blasio's new vaccine mandate, which will affect 184,000 private companies.
The requirement is the first-of-its kind in the country with no test-out option. It applies to all companies – regardless of size.
Private sector employees who don't get their first shot by Dec. 27 without an exemption will be put on unpaid leave.
"I actually think it's a good idea because we just need to get this resolved once and for all," said Irene Greenburgh, a Scarsdale resident who works in New York City.
Brandon Thorne, who also lives in Scarsdale said, "It's been what, two years already? We're just trying to end this thing."
The Westchester County Association, a group that represents private businesses, says it does not support this mandate from the city.
When News 12 asked Westchester County Executive George Latimer Monday, he said Westchester is not at a level of crisis to make this same rule for now.
