Westchester County Executive George Latimer says he plans to work from home after testing positive for COVID-19.

Laitmer confirmed on Monday that he tested positive. The news came just hours after the county executive abruptly canceled his COVID-19 county briefing Monday afternoon.

Latimer says he's one of multiple positive cases linked to a community event he attended in Larchmont last Wednesday night.       

He tells News 12 he got tested after hearing he'd been exposed at the event and the results came back positive.

The county executive says he also went to the hospital to have his vital signs checked, and the results there were all good. He's now isolating at home with mild symptoms.

Latimer got fully vaccinated last spring and said he had planned on getting his booster shot this week. He credits his mild symptoms to being fully vaccinated. "I feel like I have the beginnings of a slight cold, that's what my symptoms feel like to me.  But I think for those of who are vaccinated, getting the disease is not the issue, it's how severe it will be, and everybody tells me that it really hasn't been so severe for those who have been vaccinated so I'm looking forward to something that's light."

Latimer says for at least the next 10 days he will work from home under quarantine and that included virtually signing the newly passed county budget today.
