Westchester County Board of Legislators made revisions Thursday to the county executive's proposed budget for 2026. That includes reducing the proposed property tax increase from 5.27% to 3.7%.
Additions to the budget include continuing funding for things like maternal health, a child care scholarship program and other organizations.
County Executive Ken Jenkins released the proposed budget in November.
The $2.5 billion spending plan included what he called some "tough but necessary" decisions.
County legislators have been reviewing the budget for weeks.
There were several opportunities for the community to weigh in during public input sessions and a public hearing.
“I’m deeply grateful to the public for helping shape this budget and to my colleagues who worked tirelessly through this process. Our shared commitment to fiscal responsibility, compassion, and effective local governance has guided us every step of the way," says Westchester County Board of Legislators Chairman Vedat Gashi.
Legislators will vote on the budget during a special meeting Monday morning.
