Westchester County prepares to commemorate 250th anniversary of Declaration of Independence

As the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence approaches, Westchester County is gearing up to celebrate its pivotal role in American history.
A public forum was held today to discuss the 2026 anniversary and inspire civic leaders and tourism partners to participate in the festivities, including the Revolutionary Westchester 250 initiative.
The organization's president emphasized the importance of engaging a new generation that did not witness the U.S. bicentennial celebration in 1976.
Plans for a multiyear series of experiences commemorating the county's historical significance are underway.
