298ds agoWestchester County now has the lowest COVID-19 infection rate in over a year.
County Executive George Latimer says there are currently 402 active cases.
The county has not seen numbers that low since April of 2020.
At last check, only nine were positive out of more than 5,000 coronavirus tests.
The goal now is to get as many people vaccinated so numbers remain low.
"If you have not been vaccinated, it's the right thing to do. You should think about it, think about it twice and see if you can cross that threshold. It's good for you and it would be good for the people around you," Latimer says.
He adds that 60% of Westchester residents have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
