Westchester County is
launching a $10 million dollar landlord and tenant assistance program.
The program will allow landlords who own eight units or less and
maintain affordable rent levels to apply for up to $25,000 per unit for
repairs to their rental properties.
"We've always considered preservation of affordable housing to be
one of the keys of keeping our inventory of affordable housing well in the county,
so any opportunity that we've had to expand the resources to make
rehabilitation available to residents has been really important to us,"
says Norma Drummond, the commissioner of planning.
With $10 million
available in funds, 400 units can be rehabilitated.
