Exhilarated Westchester Democrats gathered across the county Tuesday night to celebrate the election of the first African-American president.After watching President-elect Barack Obama deliver his victory speech in Chicago, Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D) addressed a crowd of 500 in White Plains, calling Obama?s win a ?great victory for Democrats.? Although this outcome had been expected by many, hearing the results was overwhelming to some.Obama?s victory brought a long, divisive and often ruthless campaign against Sen. John McCain (R- Ariz.) to a close while opening a new chapter in American history.?Join me in not just congratulating him, but offering our next president our good will and earnest effort to find ways to come together,?
