The wait is finally over for fans of the Westchester Magazine Wine and Food Festival.
The event announced its return nearly a year after it was forced to cancel due to the pandemic.
The event normally would be happening right now but this year was changed to the third week of September because of COVID-19. The nearly weeklong event, which begins on Tuesday, Sept. 21, brings together more than 100 local restaurants and showcases 200 wines and local breweries from Westchester County that have persevered through the pandemic.
This will be the 10th anniversary of the event.
So, what's new this year? Party on the Pier at Playland Park will feature a sampling of food and cocktails from restaurants that have made it through the pandemic.
There will be other experiences spread out throughout the week at different locations, including the Italian Wine Experience in White Plains, the Burger and Beer Blast at Kensico Dam in Valhalla and the first annual Wine Collectors Dinner at Xavier's on the Hudson in Yonkers.
Organizers say they're happy to be back with this culinary extravaganza. “We are back, and we're so excited they say it takes a county to pull off this annual event. We are so appreciative of our partners in the county for their continued support. We couldn't do it without you. The Westchester restaurants and shops along with other numerous partners will make this annual event happen,” says Sam Wender, Westchester Magazine publisher.
The more than 7,000 guests expected to attend this year's event will have to be fully vaccinated and show proof of their COVID-19 vaccination to attend.
