Homeowners in Westchester are expected to get some good news about their taxes Thursday when County Executive George Latimer unveils his 2022 budget proposal.
Property taxes are expected to drop for a third year in a row. Included in the proposal is a $7 million cut to the property tax levy. Latimer cut the levy by $1 million in both 2020 and 2021.
The budget proposal also uses federal COVID-19 money to expand childcare subsidies, rent relief and access to health care.
"This budget reflects the fact that we think we will be in a stronger economic position vis-a-vis COVID throughout 2022," says Latimer.
A spokesperson for Christine Sculti, the Republican challenging Latimer for county executive next week said in part in a statement, "Voters will not be fooled by this last-minute gimmick from a career politician who knows he is in danger of losing."
